How to buy a Flat Screen Tv?

The rounded old screen televisions are being replaced with newer flat screen televisions. As technology has become advanced, the needs of consumers are catered by modern techs. In the market, you find varieties of flat screen TVs. Due to these range of varieties, there are number of companies who introduce their TVs at inexpensive rates.
However, there are several factors that need to be considered before you go and buy your suitable product. It happens many times, when consumer buys a model and later he/she realizes that the particular model was not actually suitable to their requirements. So, before you go and buy a flat screen TV, you need to determine your requirements in detail. Let’s go through the in depth details;

LCDs Vs. Plasma

At a glance, plasma screens and LCD look very much same. But in reality, they both are very different technologies. Both display Xbox game, sporting event or movie differently. There are thousands of pixel cells in plasma display panel and each of the pixel cells contains mixture of rare gases. The electrodes of plasma TV charge the cells with required electrical voltages to excite the gases causing them to produce and glow certain colors.
Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screens use the millions of crystal suspended in a liquid between two glass panels. The LCD display colors by determining how much light is required with the filtered liquid crystals.

Use of TV

Before you ask about the superior technology, you need to ask yourself what is the use of your TV? Do you need flat screen to play video games, watch sports, display computer data, DVD watch or you just need of TV for general use? Determine the use of your flat screen TV, it will play a big role in deciding your required product.

Picture

The plasma and LCD screen displays great picture quality but there are few things that every consumer should bear in mind while purchasing flat screen TV.
Brightness: In the market, you see that the LCD television appears brighter than plasma screen due to lit environments the matte screen of LCD reproduces light. That’s why it retains it’s colors and brightness.  So, if you intend to use LCD screen for outdoors or room with lots of natural light.
Color: The plasma screen has warmer and realistic feel. The LCD gives vibrant and sharp picture. At the end of the day, choice is yours. You may prefer warmer colors or vibrant look.
Contrast: Plasma’s are renowned for their better contrast than LCD’s due to it’s technology functions. Plasma screen displays true blacks and LCD’s lacked the ability of true blacks due to pixel leakage and a small amount of light shine through causing black to look dark grey. This means that plasma have more advantage of viewing dark movies because of it’s high contrast gives more detail shadows of dark scenes.

Resolution

The resolution of LCD’s is higher than plasma. There are many high resolutions TVs are available in the market but you should choose between the 720-p to 1080-p resolution. You can choose lesser resolution TV, if you just have general use.

Computer Use

If you want to use LCD’s for computer use such as displaying data, static images etc. LCD’s have higher number of pixels per square inch, this means they display large amount of data more clearly.

Fast Moving Scenes

Plasmas display fast moving scenes more clearly and offer better performance. On the other hand, LCD’s performed poorly with fast moving scenes. You can judge the model performs at it’s refresh rate the lower number is better. The refreshing rate below 5ms is excellent.

Power Consumption

LCD use 40% less power than Plasma screen.
Size, Weight, Durability
The LCD’s weight less than plasma screen and more durable. Plasma TVs are better in larger models. You also need to take into consideration the installation and shipping cost of plasma TV.

Appropriate ports

Old TVs have no HDMI port. It can become a problem in processing high-definition images. So, before you buy flat screen TV, make sure it has HDMI port.

Cost

Last but not least, choose the product that fits to your budget. Compare the products prices from the different stores. Research the market, and choose the quality product in cheapest price. You can even search on the internet. This is great way to survey the market prices.

What is best for me?

There is no right or wrong between plasma and LCD screen. You just need to determine the use of it, your required feature, color etc… it’s all about your personal preferences. Good Luck!
